New to Jesus?
Have you ever heard of Ted St. Martin? There are likely few who know that name, and yet, this man holds one of the most astounding records of all time. In 1996, St. Martin made 5,221 free throws in a row! He blew the previous record out of the water and showed himself as the greatest free throw shooter of all time. As impressive as St. Martin’s record is, there is one lingering fact that remains…on throw 5,222 he missed. Regardless of how good you are, at some point, you will miss.
What Happens When You Miss in Life?
Life Isn't A Game
Life isn’t a game, and our “misses” are called sin. Sin is missing the mark. It is thinking, saying, or doing anything that’s against God’s law. The Bible is clear that every single person has missed the mark.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
What is the Payment for Sin?
The Bible also explains what the payment for that sin is. Because of our sin, we are guilty of death. This death is not just physical death, but eternal separation from God in Hell. Many believe that God will let them into Heaven because they have done more good than bad. This is not true. God tells us that we are sinners and the punishment for that sin is Hell.
“For the wages [payment] of sin is death…”
Romans 6:23a
Christ Died For You
Though we deserve to go to Hell, God loves us and doesn’t want us to spend eternity separated from Him. He showed His love to us by giving His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place.
“But God commendeth [showed] His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:8
Christ, the sinless Son of God, took our place. The Bible says that all of our sins were laid on Him when He died on the cross. We are deserving of death, but Jesus gave Himself as our substitute.
“For He [God] hath made Him [Jesus] to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” -2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus' death paid for our sin so we could be right with God!
Believe On Jesus
We have all missed the mark. Don’t miss out on the greatest gift ever offered: Eternal life through Jesus Christ!
What Can You Do to Accept This Gift?

Many attempt to be kind, help their communities, show compassion, and go to church in order to go to Heaven one day. However, the Bible makes it clear that nothing that we can do will ever get us to Heaven.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” -Ephesians 2:8-9
It’s not about what you can do, but what Jesus did!
You can receive this wonderful gift by simply asking Jesus to save you!
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” -Romans 10:13

You can ask Jesus to save you by praying and saying something like this:
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I recognize that because of my sin I deserve to go to Hell. But I believe that you died in my place, and I’m depending on You to save me.”
One of the most exciting parts is that after Jesus died for us, He rose from the dead! He is living in Heaven today! This truth gives us confidence that He truly is the Son of God and has the power to save us too.
